Our History
The history of the British Pteridological Society begins with the Victorian enthusiasm for ferns known as pteridomania. Founded in 1891, the Society brought together those interested in the cultivation, study and recording of ferns. From its early years through the development of modern pteridology, the Society has continued to support the study, conservation and enjoyment of ferns and their allies.
Meet our Team
The British Pteridological Society is run entirely by volunteers who give their time, knowledge and experience to support the Society and its members. Our team includes people with a wide range of interests and expertise, working together to organise events, support our groups and activities, manage the Society and promote the study, cultivation and conservation of ferns and their allies.
